The text of Bel-Ami is easier to understand so I'm spending more time on the French grammar. Often I read and get the essential part of the sentence. I am beyond beginner's bliss and now approaching intermediate's frustration.

Finished Bel-Ami. It only took me 5 weeks ( 09 Oct - 18 Nov 2012). Mme Bovary was much more colmplex ( 3 months July-Oct 2012). The ending left me speechless...no spoilers, read the book!
Reading Maupassant is like playing football regional games after you just finished the Super Bowl ( Flaubert!)
